Type and Size
This 185 m², four-room house is situated on a 850 m² plot in a quiet residential area of Constantia, right next to our Cottage Chenin, yet fully independent with its own entrance. The renowned Constantiaberg Hospital (a MediClinic facility) is just 300 meters away and within easy walking distance.
Living Room
The living area harmoniously combines a dining space, a TV corner, and an open, fully equipped kitchen, ideal for spending quality time together. A sliding glass door opens the space directly to the veranda, bringing in plenty of natural light. For entertainment, a centrally placed smart TV is available.
Dining Area
The dining space is seamlessly integrated into the living room, featuring a round dining table with four chairs, right in front of the open kitchen.
Entertainment
A 140 cm smart TV with direct internet access opens up numerous entertainment options. Guests enjoy complimentary access to movies and series via Netflix SA, as well as current German television programs streamed live. A powerful fibre connection with 150 Mbps download and 75 Mbps upload speeds enables fast browsing and smooth online communication, with no data caps.
Kitchen
The open-plan kitchen is equipped with high-quality appliances, including a fridge-freezer combo, a gas stove with an extractor fan, a microwave, a coffee machine, a toaster, a kettle, and a dishwasher. It’s fully stocked with everything needed to cook and enjoy meals: crockery, cutlery, pots, pans, and a wide array of practical utensils.
Laundry Facilities
The house includes a washing machine and a tumble dryer; both discreetly housed in a built-in kitchen cupboard. There is no separate laundry room.
Storage Space
There’s no traditional utility room. Instead, a designated storage area under the staircase serves as a functional space for household items such as a vacuum cleaner, cleaning tools, a drying rack, various tools, and a spare gas bottle.
Home Office
The larger of the two bedrooms on the lower level features a practical workspace with a desk and chair. The upstairs bedroom is also equipped with a desk and a sideboard for work materials.
Bedrooms
All three bedrooms feature built-in wardrobes and are equipped with two single beds that can be used separately or combined to form a double bed. Dual-function sun-blocking and blackout curtains ensure pleasant lighting and restful sleep, while a mosquito net at one window in each room adds extra protection. The largest bedroom also features a comfortable sleeper sofa suitable for one adult or two children.
Bathrooms
The spacious and elegantly equipped primary bathroom is located directly opposite the main bedroom. It features a walk-in shower highlighted by a large glass enclosure and a stylish vanity. A freestanding oval stone bathtub adds a luxurious touch.
The second bathroom is en-suite to the smaller bedroom and includes a walk-in shower with a glass partition and a sleek vanity. There is no bathtub in this bathroom.
Security
Cottage Sauvignon is in a calm, well-maintained neighbourhood. Since taking ownership, we’ve had no incidents such as break-ins or theft. Nonetheless, the safety of our guests is our top priority. That’s why we’ve equipped the property with a range of thoughtful security features to help guests feel fully protected and at ease:
- The entire property is enclosed by a solid wall with a permanently active electric fence on top.
- The house itself is monitored by individually controllable motion detectors, which guests may activate or deactivate as desired.
- In the event of an alarm, a professional security company deploys trained personnel within minutes, in close coordination with us and our guests.
- A monitor in the living room displays real-time footage from four external cameras, allowing guests to check outside at any time conveniently.
We’ve also ensured passive protection. All windows are secured with transparent, burglar-resistant panels made of durable polycarbonate (also known as plexiglass). The solid front door is crafted from high-quality hardwood with cast iron fittings, providing secure access with style.
Power Supply, Heating & Climate Control
A modern photovoltaic system powers the house. A total of 24 solar panels generate solar energy, which is converted by an inverter into usable household electricity. At night, the system automatically switches to the public power grid. The installed battery capacity (4 × 5.00 kWh) is typically sufficient to bridge overnight outages, such as those caused by load-shedding.
For cosy warmth on cooler days, a cast iron fireplace is centrally located in the living room’s seating area. Additionally, high-performance climate control units in the living and sleeping areas ensure a comfortable indoor temperature throughout the year. These units can both cool and heat the air and can be used flexibly, either for rapid temperature adjustment or automatically for maintaining a steady climate.
Outdoor Area / Garden
The approximately 30 m² veranda is a genuine open-air living space - complete with a dining table for six, an outdoor kitchen featuring an open fire pit, and a charcoal grill (“The Big Green Egg”). From here, guests can step directly into the garden, which offers a lawn for sunbathing and a swimming pool.
Swimming Pool
The private 25 m² swimming pool is for the exclusive use of Cottage Sauvignon guests. A heat pump keeps the water at a cosy 26°C during the day (or even warmer on hot sunny days). The pool is professionally cleaned once a week. A mobile cleaning device continuously vacuums the pool floor, and a circulation system filters debris from the water surface.
Parking
A secure parking space is available for guest vehicles within the courtyard, located behind the entrance gate.
Special Features
From the veranda and garden, guests can enjoy a lovely view of a tall palm tree and the back of Table Mountain.
The interior walls of every room are adorned with stunning landscape and wildlife photography.
