Constantia is a quiet leafy suburb of Cape Town and counts amongst the safest areas in the whole of the Western Cape. Because the European media often paints the safety of South Africa so negatively, many visitors are scared and ask about our security so therefore it is very important to us that we have a very safe security system in place.

Outside lighting

We have managed to combine the necessary with the pleasant side of things with our outside lighting. On the one side we offer a very nice, pleasant atmosphere in the garden and around the house and on the other hand no part of the property is left in the dark. There are altogether 47 lamps on the outside walls, between the trees and plants which day and night are operated by sensors and therefore carry out their duty every evening.

Security

The most important part of our security system is our cooperation with the ADT security company, an armed response security company whose patrol men are constantly in our area, controlling everything and so if need be they are only minutes away from us. The ADT security men are well trained and prepared for any arising situation in order to protect ourselves and our guests. The central station for ADT where everything is coordinated from is linked to our security system by telephone and radio signal.

Alarm system

Our alarm system is installed in the buildings between the buildings and the gardens. It consists of a series of movement signals, laser beams and contact magnets which are all linked up to the control panels in the cottages which in turn are all linked up to the alarm system on our property and with the ADT central system. If one of the sensors goes off then the central station is notified immediately and the ADT security man is immediately sent over to us where he appears within 2 – 5 minutes.

We give huge importance to security and prevention of crime.

However, it must be said that since 2005, since we have been operating our business here, we haven’t had ONE SINGLE real problem.

ADT has only been called through false alarms caused by our guests by accident therefore setting off the alarm, or even by birds or plants in the wind.

Further security precautions

Our security systems are made even better by two further measures. The cottages are installed with an intercom system which enables communication between the cottages and our office. Apart from that the video cameras at both entrances oversee all activities. Therefore we can always see and recognise who is at the gate and whom we wish to let in. All rooms have an electric safe where guests can deposit valuables and passports etc.
